Freedom. That's what YOU want, chum, freedom!

Ramb

Ramb is a Darkner NPC, specifically a Plugboy, from the Cyber World. He appears in the Green Room and the S-rank room. He is a plug that Kris and Asriel ripped out of the library and brought home to play with.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Ramb is a dark blue Plugboy, he wears orange overalls and what appears to be a pair of white gloves. He has two ears.

Main Story[]

History[]

Ramb was a regular power-strip that Kris and Asriel took from the library to play with. According to the Pippins that can be found after Ramb is turned fully to stone, being taken by Kris and played with as a toy made him feel special, which is possibly why he gave Kris the opportunity to get the Shadow Mantle.

Chapter 3[]

Ramb can be first found right of the stage you meet Tenna, saying that he and Kris should talk more in the Green Room.

As said before, Ramb will be seen behind the bar in the Green Room, and will reward the party with items based on their rank from "TV Time: The Legend of Tenna" when interacted with.

If the Sword Route is not pursued, after Ramb turns into stone, a Pippins says that he never fit in the TV World, and that "no one will shed a tear for him." This is likely because he was originally from the Cyber World, and he felt lonely and isolated in TV World. Regardless of the Route taken, Ramb will not appear in Castle Town

Sword Route[]

In the S-rank room, he congratulates Kris on getting an S-rank, and reveals that the game the party played wasn’t the original one, because Tenna decided to switch it up and make it a “Line from A to B”. He then says that he knows that Kris wants freedom, and that’s why he set up the original game backstage. He allows them into the Room to play the original game while he keeps watch for Tenna.

After Board 2, he says he’s glad that Kris is having real fun, and that "It’s not often that a Dark Fountain appears in your own house", before moving out the way so you can play the next game. After returning, he’ll mention Tenna is getting suspicious, and that the next time will have to be the last.

Upon returning to the Green Room after escaping Tenna, and entering the backstage door, Ramb has turned halfway into stone, and says that he has the last game ready, but he can’t move. He then asks Kris to move him out the way. If you talk to him again, he reveals that he saw Kris make the Dark Fountain, and questions if it was really a good idea. After obtaining the Shadow Mantle, he disappears with a Ribbick implying the "HERO_SWORD" sprite did something to him.

Trivia[]

  • Ramb's existence was first teased in the Spamton Sweepstakes. A few months prior to Chapter 3's release, deltarune.com/romb linked to an image of a double-door with the page title "No one will shed a tear for him." This foreshadowed the room that Ramb gives Kris access to, and the Pippin's comment about Ramb once he turns to stone.
  • Ramb has a South London accent, using phrases like "innit" and "luv." He also resembles a different model of power outlet compared to the other Plugboys, and despite his accent, the model is not of UK origin.

Speculation[]

  • Ramb is heavily thought to be the Chapter 3 secret boss, due to a variety of things about his character:
    • He has a unique speech mannerism, just like Spamton and Jevil. For Ramb though, it's a South London accent.
    • His character centers around Freedom, with him explicitly wanting to give Kris the unaltered, original form of the game boards throughout the whole chapter.
    • The wires on his body could have been used for the Purple Soul Mode.
    • It is implied that the Knight had tried to give him a Shadow Crystal, but for whatever reason they couldn't give it to Ramb, leading to The Roaring Knight having it at the end of Chapter 3.
  • The overalls Ramb wears before disappearing in the Eram fight are theorized to be the Shadow Mantle, or the creature that gives you the Shadow Mantle, as the clothes resemble a frowning face and share an orange colour.
